Normally the payload of DJI Phantom is 1300g (max. 1350g). Phantom itself is about 1000g, thus leave 350g for camera. I have checked some camera specs and found two cameras, Panasonic GM1 and Ricoh GR, shall fit as both camera are about 250g. It shall be possible to manage the weight under 1350g with iOSD, AC transmitter, and the camera. Just I could not be sure if Ricoh GR can support real time video or not.
Using Vision gimbal so I can control the tilt. You can think the mod is to replace the stock camera with Ricoh GR.
Here comes some other mods I found through Internet.
In order to provide higher payload, I change the motor to 2312.
I have included the video transmitter as well as the iOSD.
The other connection port is for camera. Hopefully Ricoh GR can have real time video output.
Oh, it's really a good news for me that GR support real time output. Then I don't need to buy a redundant camera for real time video.
I was thinking to reduce the flying weight further by changing the power supply to the camera. Here is the outcome after one-night work. The camera portion is now only 220g.
The new camera hanging mount is ready (through 3D printer).
It enables the camera to face down (tilt 90-degree)
I also removed the case of iOSD last. The total weight just met target : 1350g.
Here comes the pictures of Shanghai Concert Hall taken through through the drone. The shutter speed is 1/1000s.
I come out a new design for the camera mount as the camera was hanged upside down in my first try that is not good for real time monitor purpose. Moreover, the camera will stop video for about 2 seconds right after taking a picture. Probably I still need a second camera for real time video.
