We found out, in the design of APM or PIXHAWK, there is no any structure to isolate the sensor with built-in shock mount, like the flight controller of DJI. It is very important to fix the flight controller and decrease vibration.

Bigger vibration would affect the flight controller to sensor current attitude. However, which vibration mount is better on market? Well, we recorded the vibration through “Data Log” of ardupilot.
We used three kinds of shock mount
1. Foam tape only
2. STO shock mount
3. Other brand shock mount
We added a 10G lead for comparison. There would be six conditions.
1a. Foam tape w/o lead
1b. Foam tape w/ lead
2a. STO shock mount w/o lead
2b. STO shock mount w/ lead
3a. other brand shock mount w/o lead
3b. other brand shock mount w/ lead
And there are the vibration data logs:
First, let’s see the log of X and Y. There is almost not any anti-vibration with only foam tape. It seems STO shock mount worked a little worse with the lead. The other brand shock amount caused the central vibration shifted; the central vibration of Y lifted 0.5. The author guesses that the different size design caused different anti-vibration. Anyway, STO shock mount seems to work better at this part.
Next, let’s see the log of Z. The other brand worked obviously better than STO. The author guesses it is because the “O” rings of STO shock mount are placed vertically and cause worse anti-vibration.
