Let’s assemble the kit!
Here is the introduction of DJI F450
The structure of DJI 450 and Tarot 2749-05 are nearly the same. Please refer to the introduction and assemble the frame.
Next, assemble the motors. Please refer to the picture below. Notice the colors and the rotation direction of the motors. After assembly, please connect the power and check the rotation direction. User may reverse the direction by exchanging any two cables of the motor.
The enclosed screws (M3x6) were too short for TL2749-05. Please use M3x8 screws to assemble motors. Do not use any longer screws, because longer screws could broke the cable inside.
Next, it’s a very important step.
Before assembling a multi-copter, user has to calibrate the throttle of ESC. If skipping the calibration, the start and stop time of each motor will be different. The throttle signal of ESC can be set up.
The author suggests reading the manual first.
While calibrating the throttle, assemble the motor without the propeller. Take the power battery out. Start the transmitter and push the throttle to 100%. Connect the battery, user will hear beep. After 3 seconds, pull the throttle to 0%. User will hear beep again, and the calibration is done. Remember to calibrate all motors.
Next, solder the positive and negative ports of four ESCs to the lower plate of F450. Measure the length and cut the ports. Save one port for power battery.
Assemble the lower plate. The kit is finished assembly!
Next step is to attach APM. It’s a simple and important step. The point is to keep APM from vibration as possible. The electric attitude sensor of APM is very sensitive. However, the power system will cause vibration and shake in operation. It is the most common crush reason.
Find some gyro two-sided tape. (The key words are “gyro”, “tape”)
Attach them at the four corners of APM.
There are marked arrows on APM and kit, please attach the APM according to the direction.
Connect four cables of motors to OUTPUT port of APM. Please follow the sequence of number 1-2-3-4 as the picture below (the picture at the right). Remember to connect two cables of GPS according to the picture below.
Connect to a sequence of number 1-2-3-4. Put the black wire at the outer side.
Connect the receiver. Connections of different TX/RX are not the same; the author used FrSky X9D and X8R. If the setting is same with previous article, the connection would be receiver 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 connect to APM channel 3 / 1 / 2 / 4 / 5. Put the black wire at the outer side.

Next, connect the jump wire according to the picture below.
The jump wire is to choose the power supply of APM. After connection, the power supply of APM will be ESC; without connection, the power supply of APM will be power module.
*After connection, do not connect power battery and USB to APM in the same time; or APM could be possibly overload.
One of four ESC could be hotter. Please ignore it temporarily.
Final step is to attach the GPS antenna mount. There is magnetic compass on GPS, please notice the direction.
Tie up cables and wires up with Velcro strap as careful as possible. Prevent extra vibration from affecting flight controller.
The author shared a tip: Attach a 10G tire lead (or any coin) on the flight controller to decrease vibration.
For now, all hardware equipment is finished assembly, except the propellers. The author will talk about APM setting in next article.
